The recent introduction of the Wilson flow in quantum field theory yields a new way to deal with UV singularities. In this talk, I will briefly introduce the Wilson flow, and present some of its properties. I will then discuss how the Wilson flow can be used to define a new prescription for the renormalization of the energy momentum tensor on the lattice.
